OUR WINTER CHECKLIST FOR YOUR HOME...

I'm sure you have already tackled the job of preparing your home for the crazy cold winter that's ahead of us...but if not...

As promised, we have put together a fairly easy winter checklist of things to do for the various systems of your home, and with the temperature drop we've had this week and snow in the forecast, we had all better get moving fast before ice and snow make our job that much more fun!

CHECK OUT THE PLUMBING!

Plumbing is especially susceptible to cold weather temperatures and freezing. ·Burst pipes can cause some of the most expensive repairs in the home as well as the inconvenience of hassles during the holidays. ·So let's make sure that are bases are covered so you can prevent potential problems from making a mess of your home.

  • Insulate Exposed Piping

Make sure to insulate any exposed water or drain piping in uninsulated spaces such as in an attic, crawlspace, outside wall etc. ·Ideally you should wrap them with electrical heating tape first and then insulate them. ·Wrap the pipes with foam insulation at a minimum.

  • Exterior Faucets

To avoid the mess of pipes bursting inside your walls, ensure that you turn off the water supply of all of your exterior faucets (hose-bibs) INSIDE your house, and remember to drain the water by opening the exterior faucet. ·You may want to consider an insulated cover for the hose-bib for added protection. ·Remember to disconnect your garden hoses and drain them as well!

Call your Irrigation specialists to blow out your sprinkler systems!!!
